This year, 15 students enrolled in the Gnome Design Summer Internship 2018 program, which offers 3 weeks of theoretical and practical training. After the applicants’ exam, 9 students received a positive assessment and started their activity.
Our company believes that the improvement of the new generation is important. We believe that the resource and time spent in the practice period is a long-term investment. Our goal is to develop the best quality software, one of the basic condition being the training and education of the new generation as well.
Students are involved in a newly launched project, not only in the development but also in our daily processes and environments.
Our mentors have selected the latest technology after a detailed analysis:
– frontend development: Angular 6
– database: MongoDB
– backend and services: Mongoose, Express – Node.js, JSON API.
We planned on October 1st to release the first version of the application developed with the help of the students. The theme is top-secret!
In June, our small team set off again to build the team. Due to the positive experiences of previous years, we have selected Ciumani as the venue this year too. The keywords of the event were: treasure hunting, paintball, football, table tennis, billiards and darts. This year too we were able to participate in an action rich and exciting program and to commemorate the ten years we spent together.
The Gnome Design ‘s CEO moderated a discussion in the subject: IT practice from school to college. The Lego project of the Székely Mikó Kollégium, led by Mrs. Pethő Mária was presented, than the possibilities of IT practice were analyzed by high school students, students, teachers and entrepreneurs.
There are many questions that may arise when choosing a career. At the initiative of the Rotary Club, eight high school students visited our company in the two days. We gave them career guidance and tips presenting the daily challenges of the programmer profession.
Their feedback reveals that they appreciate the familiar, direct atmosphere and professionalism alike.
We promoted our internship program among IT students with creativity and open minded spirit from Cluj.
The Laser DT Ltd from Târgu Secuiesc and the D-Toys Ltd from Sfântu Gheorghe are committed to our real time production monitoring system, to Flowtrack, regarding their digital workflows. In the first phase our colleagues are analyzing the client demands of the above mentioned companies.
CeBIT is a fascinating IT experience. The most recent trends, business announcements, technical programs, high-quality round tables and speakers are contributing in this beautiful spring week. Aligned to this special event, we have prepared with the presentation of our products and services. In cooperation with the OPUS GmbH – our German partner -, the highlight of this year was the newly released, 8th generation Klusa project management product (www.klusa.com).
Our client, Carpatgraf SA, the company producing professional flexoforms, ordered from the Gnome Design team the concept and implementation of a real time production monitoring system. This project among the IT skills assumes a complex printing oriented skill as well. Within this project, we are implementing the Flowtrack production monitoring system. We are pleased to announce that Gnome Design has gained a strong reputation from the first Romanian agrarian tire distributor, Nexxon Ltd, by winning the project for e-commerce implementation and ERP integration. The project enrolls the replanning of the e-commerce system of Nexxon with B2B, B2C and ERP system integration and also with planning and implementing the market introduction and lunch strategy. We are thankful for the Nexxon’s trust.
We participated with 3 colleagues on the second IT Christmas Meet-up. The event was organized with the help of the IT Park Project and the Mayor’s Office of Székelyudvarhely, in cooperation with the IT Plus Cluster.
Between the 29th and 30th July our company held its teambuilding at a picturesque landscape: Ciumani. The team spent a pleasant outdoor weekend, filled with sporting activities while also developing innovative ideas in teams. Based on the feedback received from the employees the programs were excellent, and the event reached its goal.

On the 29th of October we held our Open Days, where we showcased our activities, team and services offered by us.
The events of the day included a programming challenge for high-schoolers, presentation of the web development process, the Klusa project management system, the demonstration of the Responsible Employee platform, a live radio broadcast from our company HQ with well-known guests and various other interesting programs.

Gnome Design took part in a team building between the 10th and 13th of September. The location of this exercise ended up as Siófok, Hungary, thanks to a unanimous vote on our part. During these four days, with the help of several trainers, our team learned how to sail a boat, set up goals, perceive their position within the unit and took part in interactive programs at the Siófok Military park – learning how to use and recognize weapons and vehicles from the First and Second World War.
The programs reached its goal: our team spent the long weekend in a good mood and last but not least, constructively.
